This week we take a look at the newly released kart racing game “Angry Birds Go!” by Rovio Entertainment. For those that don’t know, Rovio Entertainment is the company behind the very successful “Angry Birds” franchise. Rovio first received market spotlight back in December of 2009 with the release of its very addictive slingshot game “Angry Birds.” Ever since then the company has seen continues success with the launch of some new franchise series and a spinoff. However, this time all eyes are on Rovio for different reasons. Can their latest game “Angry Birds Go!” skyrocket to success or fail with its push into two unfamiliar territories.
Let me start by saying Angry Birds Go! is exactly what it was developed for a fun, addictive and pull out to play kart racer! With that said, I felt that the game did fall short with some features but at the same time nailed its intentions. When playing I felt that Rovio spent too much time perfecting the freemium model instead of developing a rich experience. For examples, some key racing features like drifting and power-ups were missing. Also, the fact that races are only one lap long doesn’t help much but don’t get me wrong the game itself is fun to play. There are multiple upgrades and unlocks available, ranging from specific vehicle enhancements to special abilities and tracks. Did I mention that you will also enjoy racing with those crazy characters by your side (those familiar with the franchise.)
What’s the bottom line? As a free download this is app is a no-brainer! If your looking for a fun ‘Mario Kart’ style game, look no further you won’t be disappointed. We hope you enjoyed this review and for all you racers out there get ready, get set – Angry Birds Go!
