The next-generation USB standard will launch mid-2014 and the best part, it’s reversible! This new standard is called Type-C and it will sport new features including scalable power charging and support data rates nearing 10 Gbit/s. With this new USB standard we are going see twice the speeds as its USB 3.0 predecessor.
The only negative we see is having to buy cable adapters for your existing chargers and devices. On the bright side you will no longer have to guess which side is right side up as it’s reversible! This is by far one of the best and long-awaited features of USB 3.1. With the success of similar technology like Apple’s lighting connector, this is the best direction for the new standard to take.
